March 2012
New Website:
Welcome to the new Andean Nation website. It was long in the making but more than necessary. There are several new features, including mp3 sound clips of instruments you may be interested in, as well as sound clips for the CDs you might be inspired to purchase.
New Recordings:
Waiting for Rain – Although this was a recording from 2009, I never got around to updating my old website and including it. It was available during my performances and now it is finally on the website. It is a purely instrumental CD done along the line of “Contrasts”.
Songs of Winter Volume II – After the success of the original Christams CD, and people’s overwhelming enthusiasm for the first “Songs of Winter”, it was clear another Holiday CD was in the making. This newest recording was just released in November of 2011. Please check out the CDs and have a listen to the new sound clips. Let me know what you think. I always enjoy hearing from people and I will respond personally. Don’t worry, I can take some criticism as well.
New and Updated Content:
Other new features to our website include a new Biography section with information and photos, and please take the time to read about our Music History section if you are interested in learning more about the origins of Andean music, it has been completely revised and updated. Our shopping cart will now feature the use of Paypal. Of course, you can order by phone or by snail mail as well.
Future Updates:
In the future I am going to incorporate a series of U-Tube videos that will focus on tutorials for those of you aspiring musicians. I will concentrate on the Kena and Siku, but hope to eventually include videos of how to play the Rondador, Antara and also guitar strums for the different Andean rhythms that people would like to know more about.
Lastly, in the near future, I plan to make the CDs available for direct download, song by song. This way, for those of you fans of iTunes , you can get the music on your computer ASAP.
If you have any suggestions for the website please email them to me. Also, feel free to contact me with questions about the instruments or learning how to play. I enjoy teaching! I would like the site to become a great resource for the Andean music aficionado. Maybe I’ll see you on the road.
Affectionately,
Andrew
